in all honesty, this pattern was heavily inspired by two other free patterns: Flower Trivet, by Cables and String Design, and Sunflower Coasters, by Ling Ryan. this was my first attempt at writing down a pattern, but i think it turned out ok. i use the actual trivet and coaster i made all the time though!

materials
- < 1 skein of a brown (optionally variegated) yarn for the center and < 1 skein of a yellow yarn for the petals–both worsted weight
- size US H / 5mm crochet hook
- darning needle and scissors for weaving in ends, etc.
